Isabelle Hoag

Director of Education

Isabelle Hoag M. A. Ed. earned undergraduate degrees in psychology and elementary education. Her masters degree is in Teaching and Curriculum.

Ms. Hoag started teaching in 1987. She spent over a dozen years teaching in elementary classrooms. For most of this time, she lived in Europe teaching in schools that served the international community. She has also taught in Minnesota, Texas, and Istanbul, Turkey.

Ms. Hoag began designing teacher education in 1989 when she helped organize a professional development weekend for English kindergarten teachers living and working in Finland.

Between 1993 and 1997 she was a frequent presenter at ECIS fall conferences. Ms. Hoag was an Apprentice Study Group Leader at the Project Zero Summer Institute in 1999 and again in 2004. From 2001 to 2016 Ms. Hoag was a coach and instructor for online professional development classes that reached educators around the world.

From 2000 to 2003, she was the Program Manager for the International Classroom Connection ICC at Global Minnesota. ICC is a program that brings multicultural speakers into Minnesota’s K-12 classrooms. Ms. Hoag designed and presented professional development workshops for educators as part of her Program Manager responsibilities. Since 2001 she has been a frequent presenter at MEA in Minnesota.

Ms. Hoag is thrilled to be the Director of Education for UnCommon-Core.com. She brings a mix of mindful enthusiasm and rich experience to the project.

In addition to her work in teaching and education, Ms. Hoag has professional experience in the area of social work. She enjoys traveling, reading, writing, paper crafts, and knitting. She values relaxing with friends and family. Ms. Hoag uses feminine pronouns she, her, and hers.
