  • After an exciting activity, students need quiet time to organize their thoughts and understanding.   • These pages of addition problems can be used as a stand alone assignment, homework, or extra credit. However, if you decide to invite your students to continue exploring patterns in the unit's place, these pages can also be used as a follow up activity to Multiplication Math Art: Patterns in the Unit's Place. 

  • In addition to linear, area, volumetric, and set models, your students need to explore fractions of durations. This is a skill they will use daily. If your students are familiar with finding how many minutes are in fractions of an hour, or finding how many seconds are in half a minute, this activity will give them more practice. Calculating how many minutes in a quarter of an hour can be difficult. This is not an introductory activity.

  • Your students understand the concept of multiplication. Now they just need to gain fluency with their math facts. Luckily, the nine times table is SUPER EASY! Nine has an important location on the number line. It is the number just before ten ~ and ten is the the base of our number system. This is why there are some fantastic numerical patterns in multiples of nine, that do not happen with multiples of any other number. For example, multiples of nine have a digit sum of nine. Since we have ten fingers, we can use one of them to represent the multiplier and the rest will naturally add up to nine. Your students will: gain fluency with the nine times table. discover some way-cool numerical patterns. learn how to calculate digit sums. explore using digit sums to check accuracy when multiplying by nine. Pick up an easy way to multiply single digits by nine. Download for FREE until the end of November.  

  • Guide your students through the maze of academic vocabulary. Help them make sense of fractions, by understanding what the words mean! Knowing what various parts of words mean helps students remember the content they are learning. For example: DE in denominator means 'down.' Your students will own the vocabulary of fractions when they study the roots and affixes separately.    

  • Having a solid understanding of fraction vocabulary is like having a suitcase to keep ideas in. Students can collect and remember new ideas easily because they have a place to put them. First, students get together to research NUM, NOM, DE, and ATOR to find out how those roots and affixes impact the meaning of words like numerator and denominator. Next, they move into new groups with students that researched different word parts. They share what they've learned and work together to create a detailed understanding of fraction vocabulary.
